Finally, after 2 ½ months of touring the American continent from north to south, I have found a minute to write about myMix.

After using it in more than 35 concerts, shipping it on 50 flights through ten countries, myMix has not given us a single problem, not a single failure. It is very intuitive and comfortable and provides so many possibilities like the multi-track recording on a SD card (on 16GB, almost 2 hours), effects per channel, EQ, sending the outputs to wireless, two XLR inputs with phantom power …

Summary: a very reliable tool.

There has not been a single sound company during our concerts that has not been interested in checking out how we use myMix. The musicians enjoy not having to depend on me for any adjustment of their instrument … so sometimes I don’t feel needed…

Wooridle Church – Creating a true silent stage with myMix

Any large church seeking to achieve a high quality sound reinforcement solution within its main sanctuary must eventually wrestle with the question of how many decibels it’s producing on stage. It is one thing to acquire a powerful, high-end system, but quite another to deliver real clarity through control. Deok Soo Lim, chief sound engineer at South Korea’s Wooridle Church, is on a mission to do just that.

For all of the technology within the church, however, Mr Lim is perhaps most pleased with his own addition to its arsenal of audio equipment. In an effort to apply as much control as possible to the louder portions of Wooridle’s Sunday services, he decided to invest in personal monitoring solutions for the church’s worship bands. His choice of brand was myMix. ‘1’ve used other personal monitoring systems in the past – 1’ve heard about all of them,’ he explains, ‘but 1 don’t think 1 would change away from MyMix now. 1’ve been telling the engineers at the satellite campus, which is still using monitor speakers, to use myMix instead. 1 really like the sound quality. 1t has a wide dynamic range. 1 didn’t have much information about myMix until this year’s Koba show but when 1 heard the system 1 really liked it so 1 immediately chose it for my church.’

At the moment Wooridle’s worship bands have all converted from stage monitors to the personal mixing system, with eight myMix units having been sourced from the South Korean distributor Soundus. In addition, an IEX-16L 16-channel input expander has been installed into the church’s racks alongside a myMix Control interface for remote control via a web browser.

l’m thinking of using the recording function on myMix so that we can have a virtual rehearsal. lt would be a much simpler set-up. We could run it from a single SD card.

I have just used the myMix system on an extensive tour of China as main band monitoring system. With very limited time for setup in the different venues, the intuitive handling of the system allowed for no monitoring issues. The fact that the different musicians controlled the channel inputs themselves, meant that we only had to rely on the FOH staff to send us vocal and FX feeds which were triggered from their position. The Mute/ Solo/ Global Volume interface makes for incredibly speedy live mix switches. Having worked with most monitoring systems, I would highly recommend this to other musicians and will personally insist on this system henceforth.

On previous productions of this show I have specified various band monitoring systems all with varying degrees of success. Just prior to this tour I had the myMix system demonstrated to me, impressed with what I saw and heard and took the decision to include this as the specified system on the tour rider. At the initial show in Hong Kong the system was setup on the bandstand and a brief operational demonstration given to the 12 piece band, after very brief sound check during which the various mixes were sent to the system, we went into an intensive show rehearsal period. It was only a few days later after the opening night that I realized that band monitors had simply not been an issue. The myMix had been so intuitive and so reliable that if there had been any issues, the band had simply dealt with them themselves. myMix is definitely my band monitoring system of choice.
